News Ireland has announced the appointment of Fiona Wynne as the new editor of The Irish Sun.
News Ireland has announced the appointment of Fiona Wynne as the new editor of The Irish Sun, replacing Kieran McDaid who has moved to The Sunday Times.
Ms Wynne has been working in journalism for 25 years, starting her career at the Irish Daily Mirror before joining The Irish Sun in 2006 and has held various positions since then including assistant editor. In 2016, she became deputy editor.
Ms Wynne said she feels “incredibly proud and lucky” to be appointed to this position.
Following this appointment, assistant editor Declan Ferry has also been promoted to deputy editor. He has held previous roles in the Irish Daily Mirror, the Irish Daily Mail and the Irish News of the World.
Mr Ferry joined The Irish Sun in 2016 as its digital editor.
Last month, News Ireland announced that Mr McDaid has been appointed as the editor of The Sunday Times Ireland after the newspaper announced that editor Nóirín Hegarty would be standing down from her position after less than two years in the role.
News Ireland is owned by News Corp which is run by the Murdoch family.
