Irish concert promoter MCD has been taken over by the global music company Live Nation.

It has bought a 50% stake in the firm previously owned by the promoters Denis Desmond and Caroline Downey.

The deal was completed for an undisclosed fee and will see control of MCD shift to LN-Gaiety, a joint venture between Live Nation and Gaiety Investments.
