The rate of housebuilding in Ireland is the fourth slowest in the EU.

New figures from Goodbody show that the pace is picking up, with nearly 2,400 units built in the first three months of the year.

It is estimated the annual housing output will be 11,500, or 2.4 completions per thousand people, well below the EU average of 3.4.
