More than €2.5bn invested in Irish commercial real estate in 2017

Commercial property consultants CBRE Ireland today released statistics on the volume of investment spend in the Irish market during 2017.

According to CBRE, more than €2.5 billion was invested in commercial real estate in the Republic during the last 12 months in more than 214 individual investment transactions extending to more than €1 million.

According to Marie Hunt, Executive Director & Head of Research at CBRE Ireland, a number of other transactions may yet sign before December 31st.

"The outturn for the year to date is in excess of €2.5 billion, with the sale of The Square shopping centre in Tallaght being the largest investment transaction signed in the last 12 month period.

"This represents a large volume of individual transactions although in the absence of delveraging activity and a lack of portfolio sales during 2017, the volume of investment spend is down compared to the extraordinary period between 2014 and 2016”.
