Three quarters of people nearing retirement want to keep working.

The latest CPL Employment Market Monitor also shows:

  • 67% of employees are uncomfortable dealing with staff older than them;
  • Four out of five employers think it's ok for staff to check emails after work hours;
  • 58% of bosses are looking at machines which could do a human's job;

CPL Director Peter Cosgrove said older people feel they still have a lot to offer, adding: "The problem is anyone going into college today probably won’t retire until they're 75 or 78.

"This retirement for people at 65 or so just feels very young to people, and they feel they have a lot more to give."
