IKEA scouting locations for store in Cork
Furniture giant IKEA is currently seeking a location for a Cork store, according to .
Representatives for the Swedish multinational have held two meetings with senior officials on Cork County Council, including the Chief Executive Tim Lucey on possible locations in the Cork region for such a store.
It would be IKEA’s third store in Ireland with outlets currently located in Ballymun and Carrickmines, both in Dublin.
Earlier this year, the company announced pre-tax profits from the company’s Ballymun outlet of €13.1m for 2015. It was the company’s best financial year in Ireland since it opened in 2009.
At the time the store’s manager said they were committed to expanding in Ireland leading to speculation they would open a store in the Munster region.
Previously, locations such as Blarney, Mallow or the Amgen site in Carrigtwohill have been mentioned as possible locations for an IKEA store in Cork.
