25-full time jobs to be lost as Kenmare factory closes

A food processing factory is closing in Co. Kerry with the loss of 25 full-time jobs.

Independent TD Michael Healy-Rae says the job losses in Kenmare are a devastating blow to the area.

Staff were informed of the decision at a meeting this morning.

Speaking to Radio Kerry, Deputy Healy-Rae, says he is upset for workers and management at the factory.

"I'm devastated for them because the loss of this amount of jobs in our locality - I would only compare it to loosing maybe 200 or 250 jobs in the greater Dublin area - because trying to replace these jobs is going to be very, very difficult."
