Hoteliers fear impact of Brexit on tourism here

Some 95% of Irish hoteliers are concerned about the impact Brexit will have on their business.

The Irish Hotels Federation (IHF), is calling on the Government to set up a working group to examine the impact that Brexit could have on the tourism sector here.

President of the IHF Joe Dolan, said Brexit poses a huge risk to the sector:

He said: "Our members are quite concerned (about Brexit)," he said. "The UK is Ireland's largest source of inbound tourists. It accounts for 40% of visitors into Ireland; over 3.5 million came from the UK in 2015.

"So there are very good grounds for concern. There's a direct spend of €995m, so we have a huge dependency on the UK market."
