Supermac's begins new bid to trademark logo in EU
Supermac's has lodged a new application to trademark all of its products in the European Union.
The fast-food outlet has been in an ongoing row with McDonalds as it tries to expand its services outside Ireland.
It won a partial case earlier this year - which allowed it to use its brand and name within the EU and it now it wants to protect all of its services under the one trademark umbrella.
Managing director Pat McDonagh explains why they're taking the action: “Well, basically furthering our success in getting our Supermac’s name registered as a trademark licence.
“We have decided to reapply so we can get all Supermac’s products listed and trademark licenced as well and we feel that this new application is now more in line.”
