Business leaders reject Bernie Sanders' claim Cork to Boston flight breaks employment laws
Business leaders in Cork have rejected claims that a new flight to Boston could cause problems with employment laws.
The Department of Transport has given a tentative approval to Norwegian Airlines International to run a direct flight from Cork to Boston.
A final three week consultation phase will draw to a close next Monday, but there have been concerns that the flights could breech labour laws.
American Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders is among those suggesting that the Norwegian airline wants to set up in Ireland to avoid Norway's laws on wages and working conditions.
However Conor Healy, CEO of Cork Chamber of Commerce, says that has proven to be untrue.
Mr Healy said: "Those actual assertions have been ruled on already by the Department of Justice in the US, who have found that none of those areas have any substance.
"There are a lot of submissions of support coming in now to the Department of Transport with regard to this particular issue."
