A Longford medical company is to part-benefit from an EU grant that will help bring a unique wound-healing product to market.

Finesse Medical is developing a new product called Biocure which features eggshell membrane that can heal chronic wounds faster.

The EU Horizon 2020 fund is giving them, and partners Biovotec in Norway, €1.3m.

Martin Dowd of Finesse Medical has said the money will allow them access new markets across Europe: “It really is to develop a clinical trial, samples, manufacturability of the product and to bring it commercially to the market through regulatory approval.

“So it is at the early stages, there is a lot of work between now and then, now and two and a half years, when this will be commercialised.”
