Mothercare Ireland exits examinership
Mothercare Ireland has successfully exited examinership - but three stores are to close.
The shops in Blackrock and Jervis Street in Dublin, and in Cruises Street in Limerick, will cease trading early next year, but 15 stores will remain open, securing 250 jobs.
The company sought the appointment of an examiner in July of this year in a bid to restructure its business and secure its long-term future.
The restructuring plan also involves a rent reduction of 30% across all stores.
Mothercare is currently in consultation with around 25 staff members affected by the store closures.
The store operations director with Mothercare Ireland, Jonathan Ward, said that they hope to relocate as many staff as possible.
"The stores that are closing is Blackrock, Jervis Street in Dublin and Cruises Street in Limerick," he said.
"Dublin stores we've obviously five other stores that are going to continue trading, so we hope to relocate as many of the staff as possible within the other stores there.
"And similarly...we have another store in Limerick and equally we're going to try and accommodate as many of the staff as possible into that store."
