100 new jobs announced for Dublin

A website designed to help jobseekers run background checks on potential employers is to open its first Irish office.

Glassdoor.ie claims it can offer company reviews, salary reports and insider interview tips.

It already operates in the UK and now plans to hire 100 people to staff a base in Dublin city centre.

A site has yet to be chosen for the office, which will open early in the New Year, but its app for the Irish market is being launched today.

Diarmuid Russell is Head of Glassdoor International, and he has said they are trying to level the playing field for workers.

“Why shouldn’t jobseekers have access to the same kind of information that people have had for years, things like hotels through sites like TripAdvisor,” Mr Russell said.

“That’s really what we are about and we want to make sure that people choose the right company because that ultimately is going to be good for them, they are going to be happy in their job and if they are happy in their job it is going to be great for their employer as well.”
