Geith International Engineering is closing its plant in Meath.

It is understood that 90% of the 120 jobs may have been lost.

The company intends to keep open a distribution element at the plant which will import ready made buckets for the construction industry from China.

The Chairman of Meath County Council Paddy Meade says he is devastated at the news.

"The news is coming as a very sad blow to people in the area, Geith International would be seen in this area as a major employee, it's definitely a hard blow and it's hard to know what to say when you hear stories like this."
