Irish fashion chain Penneys is to open a new store in Boston.

The move will see the retailer take on other discount brands like Forever 21 and Target.

Every day, 1.5 million shoppers in Europe visit a Penneys store.

The US market is notoriously hard to break and Primark will be hoping to succeed where other brands like Tesco and Marks & Spencer have failed.

Primark was founded on Dublin's Mary Street in 1969, and expanded to the UK market in 1971.
