Shannon Group is to meet with staff to discuss voluntary redundancies at the company.

The body has called a meeting of staff and union representatives on Monday to discuss the plan.

Fianna Fáil spokesperson on Transport Timmy Dooley says it is disappointing news.

"From my point of view, it flies in the face of commitment and expectations that were set out by management and the Government when they set about the separation of Shannon from Dublin Airport Authority, setting it apart as an independent entity and at the time said [that] not alone would there be no necessity for any job losses, in fact, we would see increases in employment at the airport," he said.
