Survey finds majority of small firms cannot sell products online

The majority of small and medium enterprises in Ireland are not able to sell their products online.

That is according to a new survey conducted by IEDR, the company which manages Ireland's dot ie domain registry.

The study has found that despite entrepreneurs recognising the benefit of online sales they are not willing to invest the time and money in the avenue of generating revenue.

David Curtin CEO of IEDR said: "Unfortunately the results of our survey would indicate that, of the 63% that have websites, only 68% of those were able to process payments online.

"91% of them cannot even take or process sales orders online, so yes it is a very surprising result in the survey."
