New reports find more flowers bought for mothers than partners

New reports suggest that we may love our mammies more than our other halves.

The new figures show that we buy more flowers for Mother's Day than for Valentines Day.

Flower sales in Tesco Ireland's 149 stores are 7% higher for Mother's Day than for Valentine's Day, making Mother's Day the most popular day for shoppers to pick up a bouquet in store.

People also spend more on their Mammies, around €35 euro per bouquet instead of €20 on a partner.

A survey by Marks and Spencer found that people spend €25 more on Mother's Day over Valentines Day.
