125 new jobs in Kilkenny and Clare

There was good news on the jobs front in both Kilkenny and Clare today.

Twenty-five new jobs were announced at Irish-owned company TransferMate. The global payments company is hiring for its 24-hour call centre in Kilkenny.

Meanwhile, 100 new posts are coming on stream over the next five years at AMAX in Shannon in Co Clare.

The American data centre and server specialist has picked the midwest for its new European headquarters due to the ease of accessibility through Shannon Airport.

Speaking to Clare FM, Minister for Small Business Ged Nash welcomed the decision.

"The attractiveness of Shannon really speaks for itself," he said. "There's a skilled and flexible workforce and its location is excellent.

"It's remarkable in terms of its connectedness with the world...We'd be hopeful that the pipeline for foreign direct investment would continue."
