More companies sign up for 'pre-employment initiative'
Another 16 companies from across the grocery and retail industry have signed up to participate in Skills for Work Week 2015 which takes place from March 2-6.
Newly registered companies include Coca-Cola, Talysis and Primeline Logistics.
This brings the total number of companies taking part so far in the pre-employment initiative to 25.
The Skills for Work Week initiative is being promoted by ECR Ireland, with the support of its members, in partnership with the Department of Social Protection, through its Intreo service.
With the deadline for registration approaching, Feeding Ireland’s Future, the industry group behind the programme, is urging more companies from across retail and grocery sectors to sign up.
During Skills for Work Week 2015, large groups of young unemployed people "will have the opportunity to gain the skills they need to get back to work or begin their careers", according to ECR Ireland.
"The companies involved will provide a range of initiatives including free on-site skills workshops and site visits for young people at locations across Ireland."
Declan Carolan, General Manager, ECR Ireland said: "We are looking to build on the success of last year’s programme and we would like as many companies as possible in the grocery and retail industry to sign up and get involved this year so that future employers will favourably recognise those applicants who have participated in the Skills for Work Week initiative.
"Our industry needs to collectively step up and help inspire young people and I believe that Feeding Ireland’s Future can play a significant role in this ideal."
Companies wishing to register for Skills for Work Week 2015 can contact Declan Carolan, General Manager, ECR Ireland at declancarolan@ecrireland.ie.
Closing date for registration is Monday, January 19.
