Dealers expect boom in new-car sales
Car sales are expected to boom this year.
Dealers saw sales rebound to nearly 100,000 in 2014, up 22,000 on the previous year.
It is anticipated around 110,000 cars will be registered before the end of 2015.
Deputy director general of the Society of the Irish Motor Industry Brian Cooke said retail customers returned in 2014, after the "economic mire" up to then made them reluctant to buy new cars.
Meanwhile, research by motoring solutions specialist easytrip has revealed that over 55% of Irish motorists with a car of five years old or more are considering or planning to buy a new car this year.
