The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) in the UK is reportedly poised to launch a formal criminal probe into Tesco following the supermarket's discovery of a £263m hole in its profit expectations.

2.20pm UPDATE:Tesco has confirmed that the Serious Fraud Office has launched an investigation into its accounting practices.
