ESB International wins new contracts in Asia

ESB International has announced that it has won four new contracts in Asia worth up to €1.5m.

The deals span Malaysia, Myanmar and the Philippines.

Ollie Brogan, Managing Director at ESB International, said: "Asia is a major focus for ESB International and a big part of our growth plans for the coming years.

"From our direct experience as the engineering arm of Ireland’s leading utility, ESB, we can assist companies to modernise, develop, plan and invest in their energy businesses."

As part of these wins, ESB International has been awarded its first contract in Myanmar.

The International Finance Corporation (IFC, a member of the World Bank Group), together with Yangon City Electricity Supply Board (YESB) has chosen ESB International to act as their Technical Advisor for the proposed corporatisation of YESB, the main electricity distribution company in the Yangon Region of Myanmar.

In Malaysia, ESB International has won two contracts valued at more than €1m to review the electricity sector in the state of Sabah.

In the Philippines, ESB International has won a contract with utility company, Meralco FPM.

The global engineering consultancy firm will advise Meralco FPM on the building of a new pump storage tower, which ESB International has first-hand knowledge of, as the company was involved in an Irish pump storage power plant in Turlough Hill, which is owned by parent company ESB.
