Aer Lingus Regional continues to get more passengers

Aer Lingus Regional, operated by Stobart Air, has experienced its 15th consecutive month of growth, according to September passenger figures released by the company.

In September 2014, Aer Lingus Regional carried 118,601 passengers, an increase of 12% on the same month last year.

Aer Lingus Regional passenger numbers at Dublin Airport increased by 12% compared to the same month last year; by 43% at Shannon; and by 9% at Cork.

The Dublin to London Southend route grew by 22%. To date, 150,000 passengers have flown the route since its launch two years ago.

The Dublin to Kerry route experienced record growth, with 10% more passengers using the service. This was due to the extra flights and capacity made available for the All-Ireland Finals.

Similarly, there was 9% growth on Scottish routes due to additional flights for the Ryder Cup. In particular, the Dublin to Glasgow route grew by 26% on last year.

There was also continued strong growth in connections from Bristol and Newcastle to North America via the Dublin Airport transatlantic hub.

Aer Lingus Regional has flown 1,024,655 million passengers from January 2014 to September 2014, up 23% on the same period in 2013.

Two new Aer Lingus Regional routes will start in the coming months: Dublin to Leeds Bradford (from 23 October) and Dublin to East Midlands (from 5 February 2015).

"The 23% increase in passengers flown over the last nine months is evidence that passengers are continuing to respond to the connectivity of the Aer Lingus Regional network, and in particular, the Aer Lingus network through the Dublin Airport transatlantic hub.

"We are pleased to continue offering this choice of routes, with flights to Leeds Bradford and East Midlands operating from Dublin in the very near future,” Mr Fagan said.
