Commissioners to vote on whether UK nuclear plant funding breached law
EU Commissioners are expected to hold a vote behind closed doors today, on whether the approval of funding for a nuclear power station in Britain breached EU law.
Last week it was reported that a deal had been struck to spend ÂŁ16bn of UK taxpayers' money on the construction of the facility at Hinkley Point in southwest England.
Reuters reports that the plans have met with opposition at EU level.
A decision is expected to be made by the European Commission on whether to approve the deal, which could open the door to further nuclear expansion across Europe.
