Commissioners to vote on whether UK nuclear plant funding breached law
EU Commissioners are expected to hold a vote behind closed doors today, on whether the approval of funding for a nuclear power station in Britain breached EU law.
Last week it was reported that a deal had been struck to spend £16bn of UK taxpayers' money on the construction of the facility at Hinkley Point in southwest England.
Reuters reports that the plans have met with opposition at EU level.
A decision is expected to be made by the European Commission on whether to approve the deal, which could open the door to further nuclear expansion across Europe.
