Postmasters urge transferring motor tax renewals to post offices

The Irish Postmasters Union says moving motor tax renewal services to post offices will save the government money.

The union says a report by Grant Thornton has found that €27m could be saved over five years by the move, because of transaction costs.

Currently motor tax renewals are offered by county offices.

The IPU says relieving those offices of the service would save the government money and also increase the viability of post offices.
