Figures show rise in company start-ups

The number of new company start-ups have jumped by 14% in the first half of this year.

According to the latest figures from Visionnet.ie, 8,684 businesses were formed, compared to 7,642 in the first half of 2013.

The survey shows that both the construction and real estate sectors experienced a significant rise of 39% and 32% respectively.

The research finds the professional services sector accounted for 25% of all new company start-ups, followed by wholesale and retail at 10% and social and personal services at 9%.
