Ireland's fisheries and seafood sector secures €148m in EU funding
Ireland has secured €148m in EU aid for the fisheries and seafood sector.
The money is being allocated from the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund.
The IFA said the Government must ensure that every cent of EU funding is maximised to ensure the aquaculture sector reaches its true potential, and takes advantage of the growing high value market demand for seafood products from Ireland.
More than three quarters of aquaculture in Ireland is carried out along the western seaboard.
