It means that researchers who attend WIT will receive the best third-level guidance in Ireland for career development.

Professor Willie Donnelly of WIT said the designation was a great boost for the Institute.

"What we're offering is a structured career development framework for researchers who come to WIT," he said.

"Typically researchers are on contract and when they go to a high-level institution, it focuses on the work they can do for the institute and not on their career development. We're offering a framework to support them in their career development."
