The start of the year has brought a boost for tourism according to new figures.

The Central Statistics Office has said there was a 3% jump in the number of trips to Ireland in the first quarter compared to last year.

Residents of Great Britain made up 11.5% of the increase, while those from North America jumped 6%.

The number of trips Irish residents made overseas dropped 4.6% in the first three months of 2014.
