Marks & Spencer shares suffered a sharp reversal today as the retailer struggled to convince investors that its clothing sales are back on track.

The stock initially rose 3% after its trading update but later swung 2% lower despite a 0.6% rise in underlying clothing sales in the quarter to March 29.
