Irish people saving more money on a regular basis

An increasing number of people in Ireland are regularly putting money away in their savings.

That's according to a regular joint index from Nationwide UK Ireland and the ESRI.

It shows 37% of people are regularly saving, compared to 34% last month, and 29% a year ago.

However just 6% of people questioned in the research feel that government policy is encouraging them to put money away - that's the second lowest level since the index was established in 2010.
