43% increase in car sales; Toyota tops list
Irish car dealers say there has been a 43% increase in car sales compared with this time last year.
Figures compiled by both the Society of the Irish Motor Industry and car website Motorcheck.ie, for January 1-9, show 8,130 cars sold compared with 5,700 in 2013.
The sale of commercial vehicles is also reportedly up from the previous year.
Toyota was the most popular brand in the first nine days of the year, with more than 1,200 passenger cars and more than 100 commercial vehicles being sold.
