Ireland's largest property auction under way with €23m worth for sale

Over €23m worth of property is up for grabs at Ireland’s largest ever real estate auction in Dublin this afternoon.

Lots at the Allsop Space Auction include a golf course in Kildare, a number of hotels and 40 apartment blocks.

One of the lots is a building leased by the HSE in Trim, Co Meath, where a group of campaigners are hoping to upset the big bidders and secure it to use as a community centre.

"We're the only auction house in Ireland to not sell repossessed family homes," said chief auctioneer Robert Hoban.

"We're here to help a lot of people who are selling properties, who have done deals with their banks, and have the opportunity to draw a line under it."

Over 1,000 people have registered to take part in the auction. A one-bedroom apartment was the first lot auctioned today.
