The identity of Ireland's next Financial Regulator has been revealed.

The identity of Ireland's next Financial Regulator has been revealed.

Cyril Roux will taken over from Matthew Elderfield on October 1.

The Frenchman is currently the second-in-command at the French banking regulator.

Mr Roux said he is very aware that Ireland will need effective financial supervision in order to restore its economy.
