Central Bank: Merger does not mean closure of Credit Union branches

The Central Bank has moved to reassure members of Newbridge Credit Union that there are no plans to shut the branch.

A merger of the branch with Naas Credit Union is under consideration.

A protest is taking place outside the Central Bank later calling for more information on the planned merger with the Naas branch.

However, a spokesperson for the Central Bank said that even if the merger goes ahead, there is no question either branch will close.
