Eddie Hobbs launches oil and gas tax reform campaign

A campaign fronted by consumer advocate and financial advisor Eddie Hobbs is calling for reform of our energy licensing system.

Ireland is second only to Cameroon when it comes to generous tax breaks for oil and gas companies.

Own Our Oil is launching a pre-budget submission, with Hobbs claiming Irish people will lose out if nothing changes.

"When you examine it in detail, including the tax experts, you'll see that ... even if there was a major strike of oil and gas off-shore, that really, the people of the Republic of Ireland will get nothing, or next to nothing," he said.
