Symantec announces 400 jobs in Dublin

An internet security company is to create 400 jobs.

Symantec is to set up a new European customer management centre in Dublin with half the new jobs this year and the rest over the next two years.

The company is looking to hire highly skilled, multilingual staff to protect and manage customers’ information.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny launched the investment.

“Symantec’s establishment of its European Customer Management Centre in Dublin is a signal of its continuing commitment to Ireland and contribution to our economic recovery,” he said.

“It is also a testament to our talented and flexible workforce. For our part, the Government is committed to working with companies like Symantec to grow sustainable jobs and get our country working again.”

Symantec has been based in Blanchardstown, Dublin, since 1991 where its security operations centre protects businesses and consumers from increasing levels of cyber-crime.

The centre was also home to business authentication and software development and testing and will house the new management centre providing a Europe-wide sales and support function for Symantec customers and partners.

The investment was supported by IDA Ireland.
