Bruton announces 'Big Data' partnership

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton has today announced the establishment of a new joint Industry/Government task force on 'Big Data' to drive development of the sector in Ireland.

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton has today announced the establishment of a new joint Industry/Government task force on 'Big Data' to drive development of the sector in Ireland.

Big Data is associated with significant amounts of data that are generated in business and other fields and one of the first actions is to identify and develop two pilot projects within the public service.

Minister Bruton made the announcement during a conference on Big Data and SMEs organised by EMC and Enterprise Ireland today.

The first formal meeting will take place in July.

The Government said that it has committed to making Ireland a leading country in Europe for Big Data and the group comprises representatives of all relevant State bodies as well as senior industry figures.
