Cyprus central bank lifts card restrictions

The Central Bank in Cyprus has lifted all restrictions on credit and debit card payments in the country.

The limits on domestic transactions were imposed because of concerns of a run on the banks, following the island's bailout by the EU.

Cyprus has now issued a new decree on capital controls, lifting the restrictions that were published on Wednesday banning all domestic payments and transfers of more than €5,000 without permission from the authorities.
