Padraig McManus has been appointed non-executive chairman of eircom, effective 1 January 1, 2013, it was announced today.

Commenting on behalf of the board, Herb Hribar, CEO, eircom Group said: “I am delighted that Padraig has agreed to accept the role of Chairman of eircom. McManus will take over from Ned Sullivan, who is stepping down at the end of December "with the board’s sincere gratitude for his contribution to the Group over the past four years".

McManus, the former chief executive of ESB Group, served for the past six years as a board member of the Conference Board of the US, is currently on the board of the Economic and Social Research Institute of Ireland (ESRI) and is chairman of the National Maternity Hospital Foundation.
