Coach operators want excise duty rebate on fuel

Spiraling fuel costs could result in a loss of jobs in the tourism sector, according to the Coach Tourism and Transport Council.

The council have said the coach tourism industry cannot sustain itself, given the cost of diesel.

They are arguing that the high price of fuel means they cannot be competitive and have said this in turn will lead to tourists choosing coach tour holidays in cheaper destinations.

They are calling on the Government to re-introduce the excise duty rebate, which would give them 30 cents back for every litre of diesel purchased.
