Johnston Press close down Offaly Express newspaper

A local newspaper has announced its closure, The Offaly Express.

Staff have been told their positions are at risk of redundancy and that there will be just two more papers.

The Offaly edition of the Leinster Express started in 1984.

The National Union of Journalists is seeking a meeting with the owners of the publication, Johnston Press.
