State-board appointments 'not fair or transparent': Company directors
Some 74% of directors do not believe that the process of appointing people to State boards is fair and transparent.
Research from the Institute of Directors in Ireland shows that a further 64% think State board positions are not advertised widely enough.
The majority of those surveyed said the most common way to find out about positions is by word of mouth or by direct contact with government ministers.
The report also concludes there is not enough focus on the specific skills needed by the individual boards before appointments are made.
