Court to make decision on eircom examinership today

A decision will be taken today on the appointment of an examiner to eircom.
The group, which has changed hands six times since being privatised in 1999, is insolvent with debts of around €4bn.
If Mr Justice Peter Kelly decides to appoint an examiner to eircom, it will spark the biggest corporate restructuring in the history of the state.
A survival plan for the group includes a provision for 1,000 redundancies over the next five years – nearly a fifth of the workforce.
