Report recommends separation of Shannon Airport and DAA
A new report is recommending that Shannon Airport be separated from the Dublin Airport Authority.
A consultants' report into the long-term viability of the airport is suggesting that Shannon and its surrounding landbank instead be placed under the ownership of local public agencies in the Mid-West.
The airport has lost two million passengers over the past four years.
The report has been welcomed by Clare County Council which said it will consider the proposal and co-operate fully with Transport Minister Leo Varadkar in securing the future viability of the airport and its assets.
