Builders providers BHT due back in High Court

The group behind Tubs and Tiles is due back in the High Court after the appointment of an interim examiner last week.

Builders providers BHT, which also operates Heat Merchant and Brooks has nearly 60 outlets across the State and employs 445 people.

The firm has debts of over €31m but the directors of the group believe it has a viable future if restructured.

That would involve redundancies, branch closures, wage cuts and rent renegotiations.

In 2007, the workforce stood at 1,300.

The court previously heard that Brooks' losses late last year were down to €500,000, Heat Merchants had been solidly profitable and Tubs and Tiles had recently returned to profitability.

The High Court will today be asked to confirm the appointment of Kieran Wallace of KPMG as interim examiner.
