NEC to cut workforce by almost 9%

Electronics giant NEC is planning to cut just less than 9%of its worldwide workforce.

The Japanese company is losing 10,000 jobs. Seven thousand of those will be in Japan with the rest overseas.

NEC made a loss of $US1.1bn (€839.1m) during the final quarter of last year.
