Sales of a new shoe have led to police being called to several shopping centres in America to manage unruly shoppers.

Crowds rushed through the doors in cities including Indianapolis, Omaha and Seattle as people fought their way to buy the Nike Air Jordan trainers.

In one case, police used pepper spray to break up fights in a crowd of between 1,000 and 2,000.
