International Monetary Fund chief Christine Lagarde has warned the Great Depression may repeat itself unless European countries pull themselves together and receive support from abroad.

In a speech delivered to the US state department she said there is "a risk of retraction, rising protectionism and isolation", which was what happened in the 30s.
